Perhaps I’m too irritable. Anyways, there’s one thing that I’ve found very irritating, and very debilitating in an argument. It’s when people make up their minds on what you believe/feel, and refuse to change their opinion about it later. It can ruin your chances in any debate when people think you believe one thing when [...]

A lot of people like to think that skeptics are people who aren't open-minded, or have latched on to a specific set of ideas and refuse to let go. Many of them discount skeptics as not considering the evidence properly, or even refusing to see evidence against what they believe.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what the accusers are like.

So, something to consider: what exactly does skepticism mean?

You know what really irritates me?

When people are belligerently ignorant. You know, they make up their mind on something stupid and refuse to change their opinion. Like a conspiracy theory. I've seen a lot of websites that advocate certain conspiracy theories, like the bit about the US government starting the Sept. 11 attacks intentionally, and I always wonder: why do people even believe in them? The "evidence" is usually a bunch of crap, blurry photographs, or a premise that starts true but ends up so covered in logical fallacies that it ends up "supporting" a ridiculous claim.
